As photographers it's our job to pay attention and capture the details that you, the bride or groom spent many many months deciding on until you finally figure out exactly what you want. I don't know about most wedding couples but before I even started thinking about planning a wedding, I would spend hours, and I do mean hours looking on pinterest for ideas. I would look at table centerpieces, sweetheart table decor, aisle decor, wedding dress ideas, and the main topic of this post the cake!

Oh yum, next to smore's bars, the cake is my favorite thing about weddings. Whether I'm attending as a guest or hired. I LOVE the cakes! I don't always try the cake when I'm working but when I'm offered it and I have a couple minutes to sit I try a slice. (because no one likes photos of themselves eating and by this time everyone is stuffing their face with the delicious desert) I haven't gotten to the cake tasting part of my wedding planning but I sure am looking forward to it. Some go in to the bakery knowing exactly what kind of cake they want, others, like myself have no idea what they want. I love all cakes, except red velvet. I've never liked that flavor and I don't think I ever will but if you do, then hats off to your taste buds! Ha!

I think figuring out what or how you want your cake to look might be the hardest part. For me it will be. I've seen so many different kind of cakes/cupcakes in my career that I have no idea what I'd want mine to look like. Maybe I'll just have one of each because I don't think I can make that kind of decision. Brides today have many options to choose from such as; cupcake tier, antique, naked, ect.

This blog I'm going to showcase some of the awesome cakes I've seen and them being cut into. Speaking of cutting into cakes.

Customs evolve with the times, and today the ceremonial cutting of the cake has become one of the classic elements of the wedding reception. Back in Ancient Roman dates it was tradition for the cake to be broken over the bride's head. In addition to a great photo opportunity, it is symbolic as the first task the newlyweds execute together. As cakes when from simple pastries to multi-tiered extravagant decorated deserts, it became impossible for the bride to cut the cake alone. However, today's wedding cakes have become easier to cut, but it's still a lovely tradition for the newlyweds to do together.

I just wanted to show off some of the cakes and cupcakes I've seen within the past year. I've tried just about every cake shown and each one was AMAZING!
